In January 2024, the government introduced the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions (“ Law 11/2008 ”) through the issuance of Law No. 1 of 2024 (“ Second Amendment ”). [1] Among the various provisions that were newly introduced under the Second Amendment, this new framework has now mandated that electronic system providers (Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik– “ PSE ”) must ensure the protection of all children who utilize or who have access to electronic systems (“ Systems ”), including the mandatory application of appropriate technologies and technical/operational measures, which should be applied from the development phase up until the organization of Systems themselves.
